Prof. Dr. C.G. Saravanan, Ph.D., is a Distinguished Academician with 35 years of experience in teaching, research and administration. Renowned for his expertise in I.C. Engines Combustion and Alternate Fuels, he is also equally known for his dynamic leadership in the institutional development and mentoring excellence.

Having assumed as the Director of Mining Engineering Programme in 2021, he obtained the praiseworthy AICTE approval for the three year diploma course in Mining Engineering, for which he had already signed an MoU on behalf of Annamalai University with the NLC India Limit ed, Neyveli, to be worth of Rs.10.25 Crores.

There are about 120 students, who have so far been placed permanently in the NLCIL, Neyveli , during the past four years of his tenure as the Director, thanks to his determined efforts and follow up with the higher officials of the NLCIL, Neyveli, in accomplishing such a record of placements , yet in the shortest span of time as well.

His admirable administrative skills got already exhibited and into the limelight in a crystal clear manner during his tenure as the Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Annamalai University from 2016-2019.

As a testimony to his research and publication skill s, he had already supervised , guided and produced 27 Research scholars, leading to the award of their Doctoral Degrees. To his credit as of now there are over 160 numbers of peer reviewed publications (National & International) in total and his research metrics stand at 2729 for the total citations, besides a remarkable h index of 37 and an astounding i10 index of 79.

Also, under his belt, there are a variety of Funded / Research & Development projects offered by various funding agencies like AICTE, DST, DRDO, MOEF, NLCIL etc. The monetary value of ongoing projects is around 4 Crores and the completed one s to o if taken into account scales over 12 Crores. Under such projects the state of the art equipment that have been purchased has transformed scholars and students making use of such facilities into competent researchers.

He also happen s to be the Subject Expert Member into the UPSC ’s Panel of Interviewers ’’, Government of India , besides serving for the same cause towards the Interview / Board of Selection at the NLC India Limited, Neyveli.
