Dr. V. Ramanujachari, Fellow CSIR, New Delhi former Director DRDO- IIT Madras Innovation Centre, Madras
Dr. V. Ramanujachari obtained his B E degree from Annamalai university and MTech and PhD degrees from IIT, Madras. He joined DRDL in 1982 and carried out the preliminary design of Integral Rocket Ramjet system for “AKASH” missile. He taught at Institute of Armament Technology, Pune in the faculty of guided missiles and developed facilities for the teaching and learning process of missile propulsion. Guided PhD’s and ME’s awarded by Pune university. Re-joined DRDL as Head, scramjet engine division and held the position of Project Director, Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator vehicle project. Received the ‘futuristic technology and Innovation’ award of DRDO, as a team leader in 2011 for the successful development of Scramjet engine. He has published about 85 papers in National and International journals and conferences. He held the position of outstanding scientist and Director, Research & Innovation Centre, DRDO, IITM Research Park, Chennai facilitating Directed Research for DRDO during 2012-2016 before his superannuation. He was the chair professor (Defence Technology) at Hindustan University, Chennai during 2017-18. He was the CSIR-Bhatnagar-Fellow at NCCRD, IIT, Madras doing research in the field of “Rotating Detonation Wave Engine” (RDE) during 2018-2023 and carried out the first ground test of hydrogen based RDE in our country. Presently the chief technology officer of the New Delhi based start-up company D-Propulse.
