Prof R.V. Ravikrishna Department of Mechanical Engineering I.I.Sc. Bangalore
Prof. R. V. Ravikrishna is currently a Professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where he has been working since 1999. He obtained his B.Tech degree from IIT Madras, Master’s degree from the University of Alabama, and PhD from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. His research interests broadly cover the areas of Combustion, Atomization and Propulsion with a specific emphasis on IC Engines & Alternate Fuels. He has over 200 publications in journals and conferences. His group has had active collaboration with industry partners in the automotive, energy and aerospace domains such as Siemens, Pratt & Whitney (USA), TVS Motors, Tata Motors, Bosch, Ashok Leyland, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). He is a member of various national and international societies in the areas of combustion and atomization.
He has received recognition in the form of awards such as the Prof. Satish Dhawan Award of the Karnataka Government, Pratt & Whitney Chair Professorship at IISc, INAE Young Engineer Award, and membership of various advisory and professional bodies. Prof. Ravikrishna has engaged extensively not only with industry, but also with Government bodies. He is currently serving as a member of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) committee in the Transportation Engineering Division. He has been recently invited to be a member of a Consultative Group on E-mobility by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA), Government of India. He has mentored around 25 PhD students to date, of whom 10 are currently serving as faculty in the various IITs.
